The Center for Health Leadership and Practice (CHLP), a pioneer in health leadership since 1991, oversaw the development and implementation of the first national public health leadership institute, the CDC/UC Public Health Leadership Institute (PHLI). The Center is a leadership training, consultation, and resource center serving domestic and international health leaders and organizations, and in this capacity has designed and implemented a full range of leadership development programs and consultation activities targeted to the public and private health sectors and organizations. The Center¿s current major projects are the California/Hawaii Public Health Leadership Institute, California Public Health Leadership Institute and the National Public Health Leadership Institute. The Center has expanded its leadership development work in a number of new directions- action learning coaching, mentoring programs, succession planning models, and organizational development. We have developed guides for mentors and proteges in English and Spanish that are available for download on our website as well as other leadership development resources.
Capability Statement The Center for Health Leadership & Practice has designed and implemented a full range of leadership development programs and consultation activities targeted to the public and private health sectors, the community sector, and academia. We assess leadership development needs, design strategies, and implement leadership development, mentoring, coaching and succession planning, and cultural proficiency activities and programs - from targeted organizational consultation and half-day workshops to full-scale year-long programs. The Center develops established positional leaders to maximize their leadership potential and grow the emerging leader.
